ICC to Participate in ASME Elevators in Emergencies Symposium

Code provisions for emergency exiting from tall buildings have encountered increased scrutiny since the 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center. The use of elevators for evacuation and access by firefighters remains a hot topic. An ASME symposium on the use of elevators in fires and other emergencies will answer some of the questions. ICC is a sponsor and staff members Kimberly Paarlberg and Beth Tubbs will be among the expert presenters.

65 Earn Fire Marshal Certifications

A total of 65 safety professionals have earned Fire Marshal certifications from the Code Council. This designation is the pinnacle of professional certifications for fire code officials. The Code Council is working with the Center for Public Safety Excellence to develop a Chief Fire Marshal designation program, which will recognize the technical competency of ICC-certified Fire Marshals; one of several essential components necessary to earn this prestigious professional recognition.
