Code Changes Will Have Positive Impact
on Building Safety

Code Council voting members took action on more than 600 proposed changes to the International Codes during Group A of the Final Action Hearings in Dallas. View the results.

Group B of the Final Action Hearings will be held in conjunction with ICC's 2010 Annual Conference, October 24-31 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Changes will be heard for the International Energy Conservation, Property Maintenance, Residential (Energy) and Zoning Codes. Click to continue.


Feedback Needed on Strategic Plan Update, Code Development Process

The Code Council is seeking feedback from members and other stakeholders on two important initiatives: the Blueprint to 2015, ICC's Strategic Plan known as the "Blueprint for the Future," is being updated after five years; and the Code Development Process Review conducted by an ad-hoc committee appointed by the ICC Board of Directors to review the Council's code development process. Your input is valuable to both initiatives.


IGCC Public Comments Available
July 2; Hearings Slated for Chicago

Comments received for Public Version 1.0 of the International Green Construction Code (IGCC) will be posted on the Code Council's website July 2. Comments received and testimony presented at the August 14-22 hearings in Chicago will be the basis for Public Version 2.0 of the IGCC, scheduled for release in November. Version 2.0 will serve as the next version for code change submittals, due January 3, and will be considered at May 2011 code development hearings. more>>


2010 ICC Awards Call for Nominations

Nominations are being accepted for ICC Awards to be presented at the Code Council's 2010 ICC Annual Conference, October 25–28 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Deadline for nominations is June 15. Please note that the Educator of the Year Award is selected by the Education Committee. Last year, ICC Board Immediate Past President Adolf Zubia (left) presented the 2009 Bobby J. Fowler Award to Emory Rodgers.


Deadline for Chapter of the Year Applications Is June 15

Each year at its annual conference, the Code Council recognizes chapters and their achievements by naming a Chapter of the Year and presenting Chapter Merit Awards. Last year, ICC Board Immediate Past President Adolf Zubia (left) presented the 2009 Chapter of the Year Award to Steve Kanipe and the Colorado Chapter of the ICC. Chapters that have submitted a 2010 Annual Report are eligible to participate in this year's competition. more>>


NVFC, ICC Partner on Rural Area
Fire Prevention Program

The Code Council received a $133,000 Fire Prevention and Safety Grant from the Department of Homeland Security to implement a collaborative program with the National Volunteer Fire Council to reduce rural community fire hazards and other potential dangers in residential homes. The grant will fund a coordinated public education outreach effort between building code officials and the volunteer fire community aimed at higher risk rural communities.

RCP Block and Brick concrete masonry units have earned Verification of Attributes Report (VAR-1003) by ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) under the Sustainable Attributes Verification and Evaluation (SAVE) Program. This new report provides independent, third-party confirmation that RCP’s concrete masonry units are manufactured with a minimum of 25 percent post-consumer recycled content.
