Can you vote at the hearings, ABM?

Attention all Governmental Member Voting Representatives (GMVRs): If your Primary Representative has not validated your voting credentials for 2015, there's still time. The Electronic Voter Validation site is open and will remain available until Aug. 31. If you wish to vote at ICC's 2015 Annual Business Meeting, the Group A Public Comment Hearings or the Online Governmental Consensus Vote that follows the hearings, your voting credentials must be validated by Aug. 31. If your voting credentials have already been validated in the 2015 calendar year, you do not have to be revalidated. Not sure if your credentials are up to date? Call for ICC Validation Committee members.

In 2014, the ICC Board established the Validation Committee with the charge of reviewing the cdpACCESS Online Governmental Consensus Voting (OGCV) process and certifying the results from the 2014 code development cycle and the International Green Construction Code. This certification process included an evaluation of the confidentiality, completeness and accuracy of the votes reported by cdpACCESS followed by a report to the ICC Board. This year, the role and responsibilities of the Validation Committee are expanding beyond the certification of the cdpACCESS OGCV process. The Validation Committee will be re-constituted as a broad-based, balanced committee to be utilized by the ICC Board to assist in matters of the organization. At this time, ICC is receiving applications for members to serve on this committee. This committee will consist of 9-15 members in the interest categories of General, User and Producer. Applications are due July 2. Click here for more information.

Significant changes to the 2015 IRC.

The provision in Section R312.1.2 requiring that the guard height be measured from the surface of adjacent fixed seating has been removed from the 2015 International Residential Code (IRC). The provision was initially placed in the code due to the concern of children climbing on fixed seating and falling over the usual guard that had a height of 36 inches above the walking surface of the deck. With the removal of the provision, the IRC and IBC are now consistent with each other in this area. (This information is excerpted from the Significant Changes to the 2015 International Residential Code.)
