Helping in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey The scope of the devastation and the sheer number of people we're seeing in the wake of Hurricane Harvey is staggering. To help those in the affected areas, the International Code Council is pledging to match member, staff and stakeholder donations up to $64,000, made during the next three weeks, to the American Red Cross. We are an association of 64,000 members and counting, and together we can make a difference. |

ICC stands ready to help with Hurricane Irma As Texas and Louisiana deal with the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, Hurricane Irma is brewing in the Atlantic Ocean, threatening to cause major damage in Florida and other areas in its anticipated path. Dow's Amy Schmidt joins ANCR board The Alliance for National & Community Resilience (ANCR) and Dow Building & Construction (DB&C), a business group of The Dow Chemical Company, announced that Amy Schmidt, advocacy manager with DB&C, joined the International Code Council, Target Corporation and other key stakeholders in an appointment to ANCR's Board of Directors. Schmidt will work with ANCR to establish benchmarks that will be used by resilient communities to prevent infrastructure failure following natural and man-made adverse events. |

Calls for committees: ICC standards committees ICC is currently seeking applications for the IS-IEDC Landscape Irrigation Emission Devices Standard Consensus Committee (ICC-802), the IS-STM Consensus Committee on Storm Shelters (ICC 500) and the IS-RHW Consensus Committee Residential Construction in High Wind Regions (ICC 600). Volunteers are one of the most important assets of the International Code Council. This committee call provides another opportunity to serve. |

Call for input on three ICC standards The ICC Consensus Committees on Landscape Irrigation Emission Devices (IS-IEDC), Storm Shelters (IS-STM) and Residential High-Wind Construction (IS-RHW) will be developing the next edition of their respective standards, ICC 802-2014, ICC 500-2014 and ICC 600-2014. Suggested revisions or additions to the standards will be accepted until the Oct. 20 deadline. |

His retirement plans include "relaxing real hard for a while" and exploring Greece. |

Significant changes to the 2015 IRC A clarification to Section R302.13 (Fire Protection of Floors) states that provisions for fire protection of floors have been relocated from Chapter 5 to the fire-resistant construction provisions of Section R302. New language clarifies that the code does not regulate penetrations or openings in the fire protection membrane. |
