Accreditation and Green Construction Codes At the recent Green Building Focus Conference in Birmingham, Alabama, International Code Council Chief Operating Officer Dominic Sims told more than 1,400 building professionals enforcement of green construction codes, such as the Code Council's developing International Green Construction Code, will ensure safety and sustainability in the built environment. Effective implementation of green codes cannot happen without an infrastructure to ensure the competence of testing and calibration laboratories, inspection agencies, and building departments that provide the necessary conformity assessment services. Assurance of competence is derived from accreditation of service providers by an internationally recognized accreditation body. more>> |
