Code Change Monograph

The code change proposal monograph for the 2009/2010 Code Change Cycle is available for download from the ICC website. California Green Code Serves as Key Resource for New IGCC

California's first-in-the-nation Green Building Standards Code will be a key reference document in the development of the new International Green Construction Code (IGCC). The Code Council's Sustainable Building Technology Committee, including Dave Walls, Executive Director of the California Building Standards Commission, is developing the IGCC first draft for public comment in 2010. more>>

Northern Mariana Islands Adopts IBC

The Northern Mariana Islands, a commonwealth of the United States, has adopted the residential and commercial requirements and energy provisions of the International Building Code (IBC). The new building code means the commonwealth is now qualified for federal energy-related economic stimulus grants under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 that can be used to enhance energy efficiency. more>>

Despite significant progress in the last 30 years, the U.S. has one of the worst fire loss records of the industrialized world. To combat this problem, the Vision 20/20 Project aims to bring together fire prevention efforts and focus efforts collectively to effectively address the fire problem in the U.S. The Code Council is hosting two Vision 20/20 meetings at its Annual Conference in Balitmore. more>>


Municipal Leagues Support CBCAG

The Alaska and Texas Municipal Leagues are among more than 150 organizations supporting the Community Building Code Administration Grant (CBCAG) legislation being considered by Congress. The bill will provide $20 million annually to assist jurisdictions as they adopt and administer safety codes. "In too many communities, there simply aren't enough resources for building safety," said Code Council CEO Rick Weiland. "This legislation will provide the needed resources." more>>
