CBCAG Act Picked up in House and Senate during Building Safety Week Activities

U.S. Representative Dennis Moore (D-KS) and Senators Mel Martinez (R-FL) and Mary Landrieu (D-LA) re-introduced the Community Building Code Administration Grant (CBCAG) Act in both the House and Senate on Capitol Hill Day, which was part of the International Code Council's Building Safety Week activities in Washington, D.C. The Act establishes a competitive grant program within the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to help local governments with building code enforcement, property maintenance and security. more>>

The Code Council Board met May 4 in Washington, D.C., during Building Safety Week. On the agenda was discussion regarding development of a Green Building Code. The Board voted to move forward with development. Details regarding scope, process and timeline to emerge in the coming weeks. EECBG Funding Formulas Released

The Department of Energy published State, Local and Tribal Allocation Formulas to distribute funds for the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Program. These funds are available to local building departments for achieving higher building energy efficiency, energy code adoptions, inspections, audits and enforcement programs. more>>
