IAS to Present Programs, Presentations, Training at ICC Annual Conference

The International Acceditation Service (IAS) will be an active participant at the International Code Council Annual Conference, October 24-31, in Charlotte, North Carolina. IAS will provide lead assessor training for its Building Department Accreditation program, make presentations during the Cracker Barrel lunch and during the Awards Assembly Luncheon, sponsor the International Forum and have a display booth in the ICC Expo.


Building Department Accreditation Lead Evaluator Training Offered

IAS will offer its Building Department Accreditation Lead Evaluator training program October 25-27 in conjunction with the ICC Annual Conference. Participation in this training program is essential for individuals intending to serve on IAS Building Department Evaluation teams and would be beneficial for individuals from departments thinking about applying for accreditation.


IAS Accreditation Committee, Technical Advisory Councils Meet

The IAS Accreditation Committee convened in Norwalk, California, for its spring meeting, which hosted a full slate of accreditation criteria and included discussion of a miscellaneous item related to IAS's policies and documentation under ISO/IEC Standard 17011, General Requirements for Accreditation Bodies Providing Accreditation of Conformity Assessment Bodies. Several of IAS's Technical Advisory Councils met prior to the IAS Accreditation Committee hearing.


IAS Offers ISO/IEC 17025 Measurement Uncertainty Training

IAS will offer a two-day training program to provide a complete overview of the ISO/IEC 17025 requirements concerning Measurement Uncertainty (MU), September 13-14, in La Habra, California. The program offers participants an initial step to understand the accreditation requirements of ISO/IEC 17025 as applicable to MU calculations.


First Fire Door Inspection
Curriculum Accredited


The International Fire Door Inspector Association applied for IAS accreditation based on its excellent reputation with building departments and the leading listing/testing/labeling agencies of fire-rated building products in the U.S. The 2009 International Building and Fire Codes reference the NFPA 80 2007 Edition where the annual fire door inspection requirements can be found.


IAS Testing Laboratory Accreditation Meets New Caltrans Requirements

The IAS accreditation program for testing laboratories meets the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) requirements for laboratories seeking to qualify to perform testing on reinforcement splices. Under the new requirements, testing laboratories are required to obtain accreditation by a nationally recognized accreditation agency certifying compliance with ISO 17025 for testing laboratories.


Certified, High-Efficiency Showerheads Join WaterSense List

Manufacturers of high-efficiency showerheads that meet the EPA's efficiency and performance criteria can apply to have their products certified to earn the WaterSense label. The EPA program requires that manufacturers certifying products be accredited by an EPA-recognized accreditation body. IAS is involved in the accreditation of laboratories seeking recognition under the WaterSense program.


World Accreditation Day Celebrates Global Acceptance of Products

More than 60 countries participated in World Accreditation Day, in a worldwide initiative jointly established by the International Accreditation Forum and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC). As an accreditation body and signatory member of ILAC, IAS endorses this initiative to raise awareness of the importance of accreditation in eliminating technical barriers to trade.

  In memory of Greg Wrona. The ICC family was saddened to hear of the death of Greg Wrona, a long-time friend and supporter of IAS and ICC Evaluation Service. Greg was involved in the testing and inspection industry, and joined the staff of ICC-ES as a Technical Specialist. more>>     CNAS delegation visits IAS. IAS hosted a delegation from the China National Accreditation Service (CNAS) for Conformity Assessment where CNAS Deputy Chief Executive Liu Xin presented an overview of the CNAS program and a history of accreditation programs in China. more>>

  IAS attends Pacific Accreditation Cooperation meeting. IAS participated in the Pacific Accreditation Cooperation's (PAC) 2010 plenary meeting in Wellington, New Zealand. IAS joined PAC in 2009 and is an active participant in both administrative and technical committees. more>>     Australia NATA visits IAS. National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) CEO Alan Patterson (left) met with IAS President Chuck Ramani in Whittier, California. NATA and IAS have cooperated in the past on acceptance of test reports in their respective economies. more>>

  Lead Evaluator/TAC meeting for proposed Fire Prevention and Life Safety Department accreditation conducted. IAS and the Center for Public Safety Excellence is developing the criteria for Fire Prevention and Life Safety Department Accreditation. more>>     Timothy Donnan achieves ASQ Calibration Technician certification. The Certification Board of the American Society for Quality (ASQ) announced that Timothy A. Donnan with Architectural Testing has completed the requirements to be named an ASQ-Certified Calibration Technician. more>>
